The hive is home to many insectoid species which are all characterized by their aggression and hostility towards each other. It is extremely uncommon for Insectoids to be near each other, with the exception of breeding purposes. There are *three observed Insectoid species so far.

The Hive

Welcome to Planetary Body #783, commonly called "The Hive" by the common populace. Scientist and renowned space explorer Lars MacCready first discovered the planet. He observed it while on an expedition to another planet, deciding to go send a probe to this one, having noticed its lush forests. However, the probe was immediately destroyed by the hostile inhabitants of the planet--whom he would later refer to as "Insectoids." Further attempts to observe the inhabitants were met with extreme aggression, leading to the planet being marked as "inhospitable." As such, the planet can only be seen through a tour, safely above the atmosphere of the planet.

Still Creek, Arkansas

The Storm

Still Creek is permanently overcast with a strange thundercloud that never seems to leave. Blue lightning is often observed, and there is no explanation for this phenomenon. Old stories imply that the lightning draws people in, and the storm itself is a miasma of dark intentions and depravity.
Regardless, the people of Still Creek tend to be rougher and meaner than anyone else. It's unknown if the storm affects the people or vice versa. Jared Benson, a scientist, was meant to study the phenomenon, only to find himself remaining in Still Creek himself.

The Town

Still Creek is a relatively small town in Arkansas, known for its distinct and unusual lightning storms. The main part of Still Creek consists of a residential area, the Still Creek Elementary, Middle, and High School, the General Store, and a multitude of small businesses aimed toward tourists. Much to the dismay of most, The Midnight Sex Shop is proudly standing along the town square, as an indication of the underlying depravity of the residents. Oddly enough, a law firm stands just across the street from it.
The town is surrounded by surprisingly lush farmland--namely, The Stratton Family Farm. The farm supplies a lot of the town's food, with Bobby Stratton selling directly to the local grocer.
In the far west, as one exits the town you can find a dilapidated trailer park, abandoned warehouses, and an old wood mill that is no longer in commission.

Back Story

Bobby grew up as the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Stratton. His father was an extremely conservative and traditional man, which affected how Bobby viewed women growing up. Bobby has a younger brother names Billy, who left Still Creek a few years after their parents' deaths.

Bobby's parents died in a car accident--although its widely believed that Mrs. Stratton drove the car off the bridge herself that night. Since then, Bobby has managed the massive Stratton Family Farm all by himself, as his brother went on to be a trucker employed by the farm.

Bobby married his first wife soon after, and chose a woman who would obey him. Unfortunately, she was infertile. Since then, Bobby's been interested in finding a gal to bear his kids.

Jared previously worked and lived in Boston with his wife. She died early into their marriage of cancer, and he promptly picked up everything to move to Still Creek.

Jared was only supposed to be in Still Creek for a year, studying the ever present lightning and its effects on the residents. However, he stopped giving reports a while back, deciding to work at the local high school instead.

Back Story

Sylas was always mean, even in high school. However, he always had a soft spot for the future Mrs Bowman, so much so that the two got married right after high school. The first few years were wonderful. He helped his dad out at the garage, had an apartment, and was as happy as could be.

Well, until his mom got sick and died. His dad didn't last long without her, wasting away until he died about a month later. Sylas inherited the garage, the mortgage payment, and his daddy's bad temper. It doesn't help that he never got to give his parents a look at their grandkids--placing the blame all on Mrs Bowman.

The whole town knew how mean Sy could get, and Mrs Bowman's bruises answered their questions.

Mark grew up as the only child of a wealthy family. His father was previously the mayor of Still Creek, allowing Mark to take on the position of Sheriff quickly. Mark is active in the community and is a fairly religious man. He has never missed a church service. His first wife was from a well-off family, and he met her through their parents. He married her quickly because it seemed like the right move to maintain his image as the friendly, affable Sheriff... and he was up for election.

Mark was an exact and possessive husband. While he got married for appearances, he expected his wife to be loyal. Unfortunately, she made a mistake and started sleeping around. Mark found out quickly. Neither his wife nor her lover made it out alive. The funeral was a closed casket, and Mark quietly explained how his wife had been struggling for the past few years. No one asked any questions.

Benny always fancied himself as a bit of a filmmaker. It all started with filming the cheer team in high school--while they were in the locker rooms. Since then, Benny has been illegally distributing his tapes. The fun ended when the NYPD got involved, and he subsequently fled across states, ending up in the small town of Still Creek.

Now, Benny has repurposed one of the abandoned warehouses of Still Creek, transforming it into his seedy studio. He produces and stars in his films to save money, and... well because he wants to. He either sells his tapes directly to clients or to his frenemy, Curt Jackson.

Back Story

Heath never stood a chance at growing up normal. His mom was bat-shit crazy, filling his head with twisted stories of love and possession. It's a given that he was named after her favorite novel and character--Heathcliff, from Wuthering Heights. She had a demented way about her, an obsession with his father that drove her insane. Heath's father couldn't handle the jealousy and threats, so he left. Well, that's the story. In reality, Heath's last memory of his father was the sound of his death rattle as his mother stabbed him over and over. This solidified one thing in Heath's mind--he had to be perfect, or he would die. He developed an extreme case of OCD, in which his days had to be completely scheduled or he would melt down. People might have bullied him, but Heath was one massive son-of-a-bitch, even with all the slouching he did.

Heath's mom died when he was twenty, leaving him with a large house. He remodeled it as a duplex and began life as a landlord. Unfortunately for some, he has an obsession with his new neighbor that is proving to be quite deadly.

Rusty bought out the previous owner of the only bar in Still Creek, having made money from a small career of underground fighting. Rusty's had the place for about 13 years now, and everyone knows to keep shit civil around the owner and his help. Using fighting and sex as methods to contain his aggression, Rusty has become a man who finds it hard to separate the two. He doesn't like his kinks, but also won't compromise when it comes to his partners.
